The short version

Mood Match is a free, ad-supported tool by Idu House. We don't require an account. The preferences you set (genres, blocked artists) live in your browser's localStorage on your own device — we don't send them anywhere. If you choose to connect Spotify, that's between you and Spotify; we get an access token that lets us show you your name and (eventually) save songs to your library, and nothing else.

What we store on your device

  • Your genre preferences and blocked artists, in localStorage (key: mood:preferences:v1). Cleared anytime by clicking "Clear everything" on the preferences page or wiping your site data in your browser.
  • If you connect Spotify, a secure session cookie that holds your Spotify access token. Used only to fetch your profile name and (when permitted) write to your library. Expires automatically.

What we don't do

  • We don't require an account or email address.
  • We don't store your preferences on any server. They live on your device, period.
  • We don't share, sell, or rent your information to anyone.
  • We don't track which songs you listen to or what moods you select.

Third parties

Mood Match works by calling out to a few other services. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Spotify. We use Spotify's public Web API to search for tracks and (when you connect) to read your profile. Embedded Spotify playlists on this site are served directly by Spotify. See Spotify's privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense(when active). Ad slots on this site may serve ads from Google, which uses cookies to personalize them. You can manage Google's ad preferences at Google Ad Settings. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Vercel. Mood Match is hosted on Vercel, which records standard request logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) for operational purposes. See Vercel's privacy policy.
